Unfortunately, state and federal insurance cannot help cover the cost of abortion in Iowa. Private insurance varies – check with your clinic to find out your options.
- Planned Parenthood specific funds:
- Clients usually have to specifically ask for financial assistance when calling PP because it is not always offered as an option. If you were not offered any options, call back and try to advocate for funding (877-849-0782). All funding must be secured before the day of appointment.

- OurJustice Fund: make appointment first, then fill out intake form on website
- Iowa Abortion Access Fund (IAAF)
- Make an appointment with your abortion provider and ask to be connected to this fund. IAAF pays the clinic directly $700 to go towards the cost of your abortion
- Chicago Abortion Fund (CAF)
- Provide financial, logistical, and emotional support to people seeking abortion care in Illinois and the Midwest.
- Justice Empowerment Fund (IAAF)
- Helps South Dakota patients, not just with funding for their abortion, but also with costs associated with transportation, childcare, lodging, interpreters, medications, food, birth control, and the morning-after pill
- Midwest Access Coalition
- Helps with travel, lodging, childcare, and other practical expenses so you can access an abortion.

- Sometimes it takes a while to get through to them – expect to be on hold.
- South Dakota Access for Every Woman
- Make an appointment at the clinic, then call 605-338-3350 (this is a residential number, don’t call at night)
- If they don’t call back within 48 hours they are out of funds.
